Meet Prep

No two meets are the same, so preparation for each is always a bit varied. But we plan to use this page to give parents a rough idea of what we did in 2017, what was helpful and to help everyone streamline the meet experience as much as possible.

Sign Up at PitZone

Each team member will be given a Pitzone account.  There are fees that are payable to the NICA League when the account it opened.  Once the dues are paid, you use PitZone to register for individual races.  This is the official connection between our team riders and the national league

Communicate

In 2017 we used TeamSnap to do most of our communication.  If you are on the team, you will be added to TeamSnap by coaches.  This application lets us send text and email communications easily.  It also allows us forums for posting schedules, discussion boards, and availability for team activities.

Overnights

Meets are usually two-day affairs.  We go to the venue on Saturday, set-up our "pit area" and pre-ride the course.  This gives the riders a day to practice for the big event and learn the course.

We most of the team usually stays Saturday night at a campground or location that is set up by the PICL (league) that has been set aside for this purpose.

Although camping is not necessary, it did provide a large part of the "team experience" in 2017.  The kids loved hanging around each other, and most nights were filled with campfires, and fun and games and stories (some organized, some not).
