Julie Book

Female Team Coach - Veteranarian, long-distance runner, cyclist, mother, artist and founder of Pistachio/Pita Production Company.

Founding Coach 2017 season
Founding Coach Girls ROC
Level 3 Coach - 2021 season

Jon and Tami Gabrielsen

Jon and Tami have been with the team since the start. This dynamic couple bring so much to the table, it’s hard to describe in just a small space.

Jon has amazing bike and endurance skill personally and as a coach.

Tami keeps the team running and covered with Hammers gear as our main swag supplier.

Not to mention that these two have basically their own in house mountain bike team between, Paul, Jackson, Jenna, Josh, and Bella.

Mark and Connie Schuenemann

  • Mark is an avid cyclist and enthusiast.

  • Connie came to us by way of Field Hockey and the Girl Scouts, but we are blessed to have her.

Between the two of them, they got connected to the team because of Allison: their daughter.

*Note - Allison was the founder of Girls ROC and is now an Alumni Coach majoring in Outdoor Management in Colorado

Jared Hafer

Started with the team in 2019 and has been a powerhouse ever since. Jared and his family amaze everyone with their energy, creativity and passion for the sport.

Level 3 Coach - 2021 season

Kate Hafer

The other half of the Hafer power couple (we just don’t have a photo of them together). Kate is always happy to lend a hand in any capacity she can. That’s all anyone can ask from a Hammer’s coach.

Mary Beth O’Hara

Started with the team in 2020…but not officially. Avid cyclists “but wanting to get better”, Mary Beth and Donald (below) came to the team via the Lewisburg Bison’s team. A long sorry, but we consider them our Lewisburg Ambassadors and the Hammers appreciate their continued support and growing roles on the team.

Donald Mulhern

You can mostly see Mary Beth’s write-up above for details of Donalds involvement on the team. Wish we had a coaches shot of them together.

John Ross

John and his wife Erin (not pictured) do a great deal for the team. Besides their daughter Brenna being our first female rider, and subsequently 3 of their four daughters riding with us, they have always been quick to take on extra organizational responsibility for the team.

The DeHarts

Eli and Kathy are the leaders of this crew, but the whole family pitches in to help. Great Coaches, and great people and team mates.

The Crellins

Jason is the patriarch and leader of the crew, but Benton, Hobbs and Paisley all ride and contribute. Great family of mountain bikers!

Sergio Buzzini

Doctor Buzzini was fairly new to cycling when he joined the team.  He took on the role of Assistant Coach as well as the team Historian/Photographer.  For being new to cycling, you cannot question his heart, intensity, dedication and commitment to his son, Andrew.

George Hodder, Jr.

Aetna Health Insurance software developer, recreational mountain biker, occasional mountain bike sport class racer.  Father of two, who spent some time on the team!

Local Legend - Harold Shrawder

Harold coached the 2020 season. Hopefully, he will be a reassuring feature as a Hammers Coach. Harold is an avid cyclist and as close as we have to a local trail Indian scout. He brings his unique USMC style to the table, and the kids love it.

Parents are also instrumental in adding assistance to the team, and many are working on their NICA certification.

The Hammers try to maintain the 1 to 4, Coach to Rider ratio that NICA recommends.  This ratio is a guideline, and sometimes conditions require us to adjust ratios, but we will always strive for this ratio, as it allows the most adapability and flexability in a riding group of varied levels of expertise.

All parents who want to help Coach, please use the form below to begin the process.  The Hammers thank you in advance for your consideration.
