The Hopewell Challenge

Always the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend.

This race is a fund raiser for the Hammers...and much, much more.

Although it's true that 100% of the proceeds of this race go to the team; the hidden benefits are even more valuable.  You see, the Coaches believe that only by organizing and producing a race of their own, can our team members TRULY understand and appreciate what support staff and organizers do to produce an event.

We believe that this experience, not only helps build trail stewardship and organizational skills; it also builds racers that are appreciative and understanding at the venues of other races.

In a time when participation is decreasing at amateur outdoor athletic events, we feel that teaching our young people an appreciation for event organization, may be a critical step towards continued success and production of outdoor competitions and the future of the sport.
