Logistics/Itinerary:

Start location:

Here are the directions I got from Scot Wagner our BEMBA host/guide:

"Dave, as you are heading west on Rt. 192 and approaching the park, just after going thru a couple of pretty good curves, you will come to the first (east) entrance to the park. Take that right onto a blacktop road, stay on blacktop,( as there is a dirt road to the right) and follow it around and up over the hill. Go past a park restroom on left and the entrance to the campground on the right, up a slight grade and the road makes a 90 degree to the left, follow it around and the parking area will be on your left. I'll be there early, so you'll see some vehicles already there. We are bringing bikes and planning to ride. I did see this morning that forecast has changed a bit, not quite as warm as earlier predicted. Still looks pretty decent and looking forward to meeting everyone."

9:00 a.m. - Instructions

BEMBA Will tell us what gets done and where, need to have enough for the number who attend.

9:15 a.m. - Education

Some safety education for the Corp and probably some job site instruction too

9:30 a.m. - Tools & deploy

Please bring your own tools, but Coach Dave can help with this one, if you need hand tools for your work crew.  NO POWER TOOLS!

Trail work area will be determined by BEMBA, but Scot says to come prepared to do some maintenance (pruning, raking, etc) as well as some “armoring with rocks”. Sounds like a fun project!

IF YOU ARE LATE...

We will leave Walkie Talkies at the start location.  Pick one up, push the button and talk.  If we can hear you, we'll tell you our location.

If we can't communicate, we will mark our route out to the trail using marking tape. Hopefully, you can follow the tape to a work crew.

You could always try my cell phone: 570-854-2437.  If it rings, I'll answer, but please make this your last resort.  Answering the phone is disruptive to getting anything done.

Food and beverages

Maybe we find a local source to help out, we do ask everyone to bring something, the league also helps to coordinate.

Tasks involved

Work will be MAINTENANCE and anything you feel is needed as long as it's basic, and does NOT INCLUDE POWER TOOLS.

POST RIDE - Ride!

Some of us plan to take a ride.  Please bring your bike if you want to accompany us.  We have some willing guides and this is a great way to get to learn a new riding destination and series of trails.

No idea when the ride will start.  That depends on our trail work I suppose. We will end trail work no later than 1:00 p. so that might give you some idea. Then have a snack, get our bikes and get riding!
