Girls RoC Camp

  • Hess Field park 27 Meadow Ln Danville, PA, 17821 United States (map)

Four 6:00 p.m. Camp Dates

2 days a week for 2 weeks,

Monday June 17th and 24th,

Wednesday June 19th and 26th.

Allyson - you instructor - Racing.

Bikes and other necessary gear can be  supplied via the Hammers Mountain Bike team, if camp-goers do not have their own gear.

Every participant will be required to wear a helmet and closed toed shoes.  Again, if the participant does not have these things, gear can be supplied.

Rough itinerary of the camp is as follows:

Camp 1 -

Provide and review a checklist on bike safety including brakes, chain and gears, seat height, tire pressure, and overall condition of the bike. There will be many experienced mountain bikers there on the first night to help properly set up bikes and repair any major issues.

Camps 2, 3, and 4 -

A daily plan will be formulated using NICA coaching books from the Hammers team.  These books and Coaches will use proven teaching methods drills to create a safe, informative and "hands on" camp program.

Mountain biking can be hazardous or even fatal in extreme cases.  Safety is a major concern. All NICA coaches have either medical degrees or wilderness first aid safety training.

All Coaches have also had background checked by the Danville School District.  Allyson is also trained in basic first aid to insure the girls safety.   There will always be first aid kits on hand. The girls will not be taken on any difficult trails or pushed to hard to the point they will seriously injured, riding fast or dangerously will also not be accepted. Girls will not be allowed to ride unless their bike is in good working condition (I hope to have mechanics there the first night to check all bikes),

Water will always be available coaches will carry extra snacks and water with them if we ride in the trails. During the camp I will address safe riding habits for on trails and on the road.

The camp will be held rain or shine, there is a sheltered area with picnic tables in case of bad weather. The camp will most likely be cancelled for the night if there are going to be severe thunderstorms.

I have also created a name, Girls ROC or girls riding outside camp. The "c" also stands for create, compete, construct, command, care, conquer, and a lot of other words to describe the girls.
